Pink glow. Hard numbers.

Hampton, Virginia

At NASA Langley in Hampton, Virginia, a test wing glowed pink-purple under ultraviolet light. The color had a job: high-speed cameras tracked changes in pressure-sensitive paint to measure airflow pressure. NASA calls it the first use of this technique on a large-scale, freely moving model in a low-oxygen environment. The Benchmark Supercritical Wing is a reference model, not a particular aircraft. Its measurements help sharpen computer simulations. The glow gets your attention. The data is the point.

Six flights. Then maintenance.

United States

NASA’s X-59 logged six flights on September 22, 24 and 25—two a day, two more than its previous weekly record. NASA reported the tally on October 2. The aircraft had reached 38 test flights and Mach 1.53, above its planned Mach 1.4 cruise. Engineers were expanding the tested range of speeds, altitudes and maneuvers. Next: roughly three weeks of planned maintenance, then a systems review. Flight testing includes the part where you stop flying and check the machine.

Official records. Credible research. Claims clearly labeled.
Unidentified does not mean extraterrestrial.

EVERGREEN FIELD GUIDE

Unidentified is a question, not an answer.

UAP means “unidentified anomalous phenomena.” It describes an observation that has not been explained; it does not establish what caused it. NASA says many sightings lack the high-quality data needed for scientific conclusions, and it has found no evidence that UAP are extraterrestrial. A witness account records what someone reports, not proof of an explanation. Keep the observation, proposed explanations and confirmed findings in separate boxes. NASA’s 2023 independent study addressed better ways to collect and analyze data, rather than reviewing past incidents. Stay curious. Bring better receipts.

STEP SOFTLY. READ THE LABEL.

PARANORMAL.

Some stories belong around a fire. Others need evidence. Here, the label tells you which is which.

EVERGREEN · READING THE STRANGE

A shiver is not a source.

Folklore is a story a community passes on; its survival does not establish that its events occurred. Fiction is invented. A reported claim records what someone says happened and still needs checking. We keep those labels visible so you can enjoy the shadows without mistaking them for evidence.

A Recording of Silence

I recorded the empty room for an hour to prove the noises were pipes. On playback, nothing happened for fifty-nine minutes. Then a voice beside the microphone whispered, “Good. They think we’re the pipes.” Under it, much quieter, another voice asked how long I would keep pretending to be asleep.

A rotating collection of four short tales. Stories repeat; these are invented, not reported events.

THE EDITORIAL DESK

Keep the facts. Cut the noise.

The Daily Drift follows the odd corners of the news and brings back a few good stories. Short reports. Original words. The evidence stays attached.

Real sources. Our own words.

Every factual news story links to the reporting behind it. Folklore and original fiction are clearly labeled. We write original summaries, keep important uncertainty intact, and hold stories we cannot verify.

Meet the forest desk.

Sasquatch is our fictional host and resident appreciator of human oddness. His field notes are playful commentary, not eyewitness reporting.

A small footprint, by design.

Real photography is credited and cleared for reuse. Original scratch-print illustrations bring the fictional night desk to life. Atmospheric imagery is labeled separately from news evidence. Grain, contrast and rough print texture are styling, never proof of a claim. Browse without JavaScript.
